Each of us faces period of struggle throughout life. Whether we face obstacles personally, professionally, internally, externally, finding assistance and support can be profoundly beneficial. I have over 15 years of working in health and wellness, specializing in movement therapy, meditation and mindfulness. My background has allowed me to become well-versed in somatic work, accessing thoughts and feelings through awareness of one’s physical body.
As individuals, we are a culmination of internal and external situations and experiences. Taking the time to reflect and develop an awareness of these events can help create more profound levels of understanding and longer-lasting opportunities for change. I approach the counselling practice from a wholistic perspective. My goal as a counsellor is to ensure that you feel both seen and heard — I realize there is much more to you than the eye can see or the adjectives that the world uses to describe you.
Goals and solutions are developed collaboratively, and I hope to aid you in feeling empowered and capable.
What brought you to the field?
After years of working with people through physical movements and meditation practices, I saw a gap in my offerings that I wanted to fill. The people I was working with would begin to feel their feelings, tap into their thoughts and engage with their behaviours. As their awareness of themselves increased, the desire to further explore these discoveries became ever apparent. I wanted to be able to offer services that could further support this process of self-discovery and acceptance. I chose counselling as a way of supporting people in their work of integrating inwardly, and outwardly.
What is your approach like?
My approach to counselling is rooted in the practice of allowing each client the space to explore who they are and what they need. Although I lean towards a solution-based approach, I believe the solution is unique to the individual. There is no one solution that is right for everyone. Taking the time to listen and understand is critical, especially when you may not feel understood or have a space to express yourself confidently. I also draw upon several other modalities, including CBT, Mindfulness, Internal Family Systems and Bowen Family System.
What can someone expect during a session with you?
I tend to be personable and professional, with a laid-back and good-humoured disposition. Life has personally handed me a rollercoaster of events, so I am comfortable holding space for whatever brings you to counselling. I want you to feel comfortable, and, in turn, sessions will be collaborative where I want you to feel empowered to say yes, or no with the ability to guide the conversations as needed.
What do you bring to your work that is unexpected or unique?
I believe everyone can benefit from counselling, but finding the right match is critical. I come from a dynamic background, having been a caregiver at a young age, challenging family dynamics, grief and loss, professional changes, relocating/starting over, owning and operating a business, and more. I do believe in the intersectionality of our personalities, recognizing we can wear many hats at once. Taking the time to uncover “where you fit” amongst all of the roles, responsibilities, and relationships is vital. As a counsellor, I do not want to limit you to any particular role or responsibility.

I first heard this saying when I was in my late teens, and it strongly resonated with how I felt about myself and the world around me. To me, the element of mindfulness or awareness of one’s own thoughts, emotions and actions is critical. When we are deeply aware of ourselves and our workings, we are granted freedom we otherwise don’t have access to.
